Distinctive spline joinery at the corners along with beautiful, exposed end-grain oak create a modernist frame detail for the table. This design and the wonderful quality of woodwork were transferred over to the top of a 1960s Chinese Modern inspired chest of drawers, giving it a special tray top style. On both pieces, the modern rectangular lifting handles are also new and evocative in antique nickel-designed with an echo of the antique campaign or map drawer hardware.
